Wasted Light 02:40
I used to catch the fireflies out in the yard with my hands 'cause I had no mason jar. So I had to let them go night after night. I can't help but think about all the wasted light. I used to have a lava lamp on the nightstand by my bed, and it would put me in a trance. Sometimes I would leave it on night after night. I can't help but think about all the wasted light. I still have a lava lamp by my bed.

Do you wanna ménage à trois? No, I don't speak French unless you count "rendezvous." When are you getting off that fence? Cause I've been there before, and I've been scared before. No, I don't wanna fall in love, but we can still be friends. Later on, when I walk you home, don't you dust for my fingerprints. Cause I've been there before, and I've been scared before. Have we been here before? I've lived in fear before. Do you wanna ménage à trois? No, I don't speak French unless you count "déjà vu." Unless you count "déjà vu."

Blackout 03:11
You turned the lights out when we were alone in your sister's room. It was a blackout underneath a waning moon. We drank what we found in the fridge and headed back upstairs. I didn't black out, but I fell asleep. I wasn't there. It was a blackout. And when I woke up, yeah, I was alone in your sister's room. I thought we broke up underneath a waning moon. You kept the door shut, so I figured I should probably stay. I felt so tore up. I slept right on through the day. It was a blackout. Turn the lights on.

Hiccup 03:33
We met up for coffee and stuff down at the local shop. You dropped the question. You burst my bubble. I drank a soda pop. Asked how things were going for me and how they might have turned out. I had so much to say to you, but I couldn't open my mouth. What ever happened to us? This catching up is a hiccup. Something's not sitting right with me. I've got a gut feeling we'll never be here again. I've got a gut feeling that this is where it ends. This catching up is a hiccup. Something's not sitting right with me. We ate up the better part of a weekday afternoon. You left so easy it turned my stomach. Tell me: What have I turned into? What's gonna happen to us?

I found an old photograph you took. We look like characters in a book I've yet to write but will someday. My hair wasn't very long back then, and yours was blonde as it has ever been. I've watched the color fade. The boy I used to be is just a memory. You always said you'd marry him. So I'll keep your picture in my wallet sleeve. For my life, I just can't bury him. I went to the place where we grew up. It don't feel the same without us living there. I walked down Memory Lane, where all the kids still laugh and play. Suntanned skin is not their yesterday. I've watched the color fade. The boy I used to be is just a memory. You always said you'd marry him. So I'll keep your picture in my wallet sleeve. For my life, I just can't bury him.

Sell Out 04:19
I wanna hold you like I used to. I wanna kiss you soft sometimes. So after the show, I won't be too strapped for dough. And there's a diner down the road. We can go there if you want. We can sit in a corner booth that's dimly lit. The jukebox will be playing the hits. And if they have our song, you know I'll put the record on. I said I wouldn't write about love when I was trying to be punk rock. Funny, I was scared to sell out. Now it's the only thing I know how to do. I wanna hold you like I used to. I wanna kiss you soft sometimes. I wanna hold you like I used to. I wanna kiss you hard against the wall like I don't care who's watching. Hard against the wall like I don't care who knows it. So after the solo, there's still a verse to go. And I love rock and roll, but sometimes that's not enough. You can sit or stand front row in the pit. Just keep screaming. We'll keep playing the hits. And if we do your song, I wanna hear you sing along. I said I wouldn't write about love when I was trying to be punk rock. Funny, I was scared to sell out. Now it's the only thing I know how to do. I wanna hold you like I used to. I wanna kiss you soft sometimes. I wanna hold you like I used to. I wanna kiss you soft sometimes. Then hard against the wall like I don't care who's watching. I wanna kiss you hard.

I could hang the curtains up, but it's hard enough to get out of bed. And when I stare at the wall, this song is in my head. And it goes "buhbuh buhbuh buhbuh buhbuh." I should hang the curtains up 'cause it's hard enough to keep out the light. Now when I stare at the sun, I don't even squint my eyes. Got my blue jeans on. Got my blue jeans on, and I'm ready for something. Yeah, I'm ready for something. Maybe I'll hang the curtains up. If I'm bored enough, I'll go to the bar. And when I get to the door, I'll pay the cover charge. Got my blue jeans on. Got my blue jeans on, and I'm ready for something. Yeah, I'm ready for something. Got my blue jeans on.

Ultraviolet 02:53
The clouds are few and white floating in the big blue sky. Let's go out. We can try to catch us some UV rays. I've been wearing yesterday's clothes. I think it might be time for a change. Slip some shoes on. Honey, you look great. It's gonna be a beautiful day. The grass is green and bright. Looks yellow in the sunlight. Let's go out while we can before we have to stay in. I've been blowing yesterday's smoke. I think it might be time for a spin. Don't say a word. Don't say anything. I've got a car that will take us far as you want to go. Do you want to go? It's gonna be a beautiful day. It's gonna be beautiful.

I'm In Love 06:14
We walked along the lake in the summer. We watched the birds fly over our heads. I held your hand, and there were no words that we needed to be said. After a while, I saw you smile. I'm in love. We swam across the lake in the summer. We felt the fish skim under our feet. I held your hand, and there were no words that we needed to repeat. And after a while, it made me smile. I'm in love. We sat beneath the stars in the summer. We saw one flicker and burn out. It told the truth that we did not want to hear but that we could not live without. And all it took was just a smile. I'm in love. I really mean it. I'm in love.
